ABOUT WE-Entrance and Exit to the World
Set in Japan, 2073 — a society divided into classes, where equality is an illusion and everyone watches everyone else.
Only one place remains beyond control: Space E.
A refuge… or a trap with no way out.
Japan, 2073: society is divided into 3 classes – upper, middle and lower. Society claims equality on the surface but in fact it is under constant watch. The only place beyond the watchful eye is Space E. People seek escape to this hidden refuge, yet even here, freedom is elusive. Those who flee gradually find themselves trapped in a world with no exits.
Illusions, lies and memories that quietly ensnare us, are brought to life through video, light, and sound, under the direction of Hiroshi Koike. Experience the film adaptation of this unique performance.
Scenic design and art work by award winning artist, Wataru Yamakami, winner of the Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art and Tokyo Midtown Award.
