KOIKE Hiroshi Workshop
A multi-day workshop would be ideal, but this two-hour condensed version offers a taste of the extraordinary.
SAEKI Tsuyoshi in Conversation with KOIKE Hiroshi
SAEKI Tsuyoshi, editor of the acclaimed journal Kaze no Tabibito, interrogates KOIKE Hiroshi — accompanied by documentary film and photo screenings of “HINOTORI”.
HINOTORI Documentary Film directed by: SHIRAO Kazuhiro
A New Wildness
Pianist and composer NAKAGAWA Toshio, jazz trumpeter NAKAMURA Keisuke, and dancer MATSUSHIMA Makoto — who has long worked alongside KOIKE — together with KOIKE’s student, a young hip-hop dancer.
Hold the Form, Break It Open!
The dance of Holder of Important Intangible Cultural Heritage TSUMURA Reijiro opens the piece, while calligrapher NANASAWA Nanami writes as NAKAGAWA Toshio’s toy piano and melodica melt the air. Jazz trumpeter NAKAMURA Keisuke drives in sharp, precise sound. Shitamachi-Kyoudai and NAKAGAWA play freely as MATSUSHIMA Makoto and TSUMURA Reijiro intertwine once more — an improvised work.
Body and Art
Visual artists AIDA Makoto and KURIBAYASHI Takashi, who have long worked on KOIKE’s scenic design, are joined by composer and pianist NAKAGAWA Toshio. Four voices — no telling where this conversation will go.
